I want all of my music! ...... Whatupwiththat?

Ok on my home i have added CDs and other music to the iTunes but they still don't show up on my iPad. How can I access all of my music on the iPad not just songs I purchased from iTunes on there? I have the home sharing on on both my pc and iPad too. What am I missing?
