How do I turn phone dial pad sounds off?

Just recently my iPhone 5 started making tones when I key in numbers on the phone dial pad. Lowering the volume with the side buttons only reduces the volume somewhat but doesn't turn it off. Settings>sounds>Keyboard clicks>Off doesn't turn the tones off. What else can I try?

"rare occassions"? I'd rather never have the tones. Don't see a need for them. But if I flip the switch off then forget to flip it on after dialing I risk missing calls. Wish Apple would give a better option.

Is that the physical switch on the side? That works but it is a really poor solution to the problem. I shouldn't have to turn the ringer off just to silence the dialpad tones. What was Apple thinking?

They were probably thinking that a nice easy to find switch would be easier than digging through settings on those rare occasions that this was necessary. But I'm just guessing.

I found this discussion by searching the web. My wife and I have identical iPhone 5 phones. The volume of the dial tones on her phone when entering a phone number is much lower than on mine. After searching the web, this appears to be a generally recognized problem. None of the settings appear to affect the volume of the dial tones. and the only solution is to entirely mute the phone with the side switch, a very unsatisfactory answer. I am surprised that Apple or a third-party developer has not addressed this.

One solution that was provided by an Apple tech in a post on another website was to do a soft reset by pushing the power butter and the main button on the front at the same time until the Apple logo appeared. I tried this and the dial tone volume was lowered to the same level as on my wife's phone.

Thank you so much! My i5 was never loud when dialing but one day it just started dialing really loud very weird but your advice in doing the soft reset fixed my problem even with the ringer turned way up the dial tone is not loud. Thank you so much it was so embarrassing trying to call home from inside a store!

I had the exact problem today. My phone dial pad suddenly started making loud obnoxious tone when dialing a number. After looking to see if I could adjust tone and couldn't find a setting for that, I simply rebooted my phone which solved the problem. I've learned to always reboot my phone when I cannot find a quick solution to my problem.
