    Set up an iCloud account in Settings>iCloud by signing in with your Apple ID, then go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup and turn iCloud Backup to On.  After that your device will automatically back up to iCloud once every 24 hours when you are connected to your charger and wifi and the screen is locked.  You can also perform a manual backup by tapping Back Up Now in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup.
