iPod Nano 7th Gen keeps repeating songs
How do I keep my Nano from repeating the same song? I don't see anything obvious on settings or on the screen to suggest a fix.

On the newer nanos, there's a button on the Now Playing screen that is equivalent to the Repeat setting on older iPods. The symbol looks like two arrows in a loop. Tap that to change it from the "repeat one" setting.
This is kind of "off topic"... The Reset Settings command is only for the iPod's settings. What you describe is not a problem, but the iPod working as designed.
If you used the iPod to move files (like it was an external hard drive or flash drive), you used the Enable disk use setting. Files copied onto the iPod manually remain on the iPod until you remove them manually. Turning off Enable disk use does not remove those files.
What you need to do is Enable disk use again. Then, use the Mac's Finder or Windows Explorer to open the iPod "disk" and manually delete those files you previously copied onto the iPod (for the computer to computer transfer). Be sure to "empty the trash," or the files will continue to take up space even if you can't see them anymore.
Alternately, if you do a Restore on the iPod using iTunes, the iPod's disk is completely erased, so those files will no longer be there
The repeat control (two arrows in a loop) has three states--as I see it (on my 7th generation iPod nano). They are: (1) arrows have no color, (2) bottom arrow is blue, upper arrow seems uncolored, (3) like #2, but there is "1" embedded in the bottom arrow. The manual describes two states--as shown in the inserted screen snapshot. I can detect no difference in behavior between state (1) and state (2). I was hoping that state (1) would be no repeat--namely, the song (or podcast) would play through to the end and then nothing else would play.
I previously had an iPod Classic Photo that would play one episode of a podcast and then stop. It would eventually go to sleep after that. I was usually asleep by then too & didn't have to worry about setting the sleep timer to keep the device from continuing through all the episodes or continually playing one episode.
I think you figured it out, but the "two arrows in a loop" (Repeat) button is shown (and described) on pages 18-19 of the 7th gen iPod nano user guide

There doesn't seem to be a setting to ensure that this particular feature gets set and saved. I go into the song and ensure that repeat is disabled. The next time I sync the iPod to my iMac and play a song, I find, more often than not, that the repeat has been turned on..
Is anyone else finding that the setting the repeat feature sticks for a while and doesn't revert?
If the setting is not "holding" between syncs, there may be corruption in iPod's settings. The way to fix it for sure would be to do a Restore on the iPod. This will erase the iPod, re-intall its software, and set it to default settings. You can then re-sync it with your music. The Restore button is on the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.
If you don't want to erase the iPod, you can try using the command to Reset Settings first. This command should be on the iPod's Settings screen. This will reset all settings on the iPod to the default setting. That may "unstick" the Repeat setting.
Do you think the "reset setting" will clear up the "other" area on the ipod nano, 7th generation hard drive. I had to utilize that drive when i moved my windows based itunes from one computer to another. This was so I could move all my music, not just what i had purchased from itunes. Now i am stuck with the duplicate itunes in my "other" space, with no way to get rid of it.
So I wondered if the "reset" will clear out the "other" space.
Do you think the "reset setting" will clear up the "other" area on the ipod nano, 7th generation hard drive. I had to utilize the hard drive space to move my windows based itunes to my second computer. As you know the apple utility only moves purchases not would you loaded yourself. Now I am stuck with the copy in my "other" space on the ipod and would love to get rid of it to free up space.
Kenichi Watanabe, the "arrows in a loop" you're referring to, are they the shuffle symbol? I'm, also, having the repeating problem on my 7thG nano and that shuffle symbol is the only thing I can find that fits your description of "two arrows in a loop". Thanks for your help.
The THREE states are no color (list does not repeat), blue (list repeats), and blue with a "1" (current song on list repeats).
The Repeat button applies to a list (such as a playlist). If you are selecting a specific podcast (through the Podcast menu on iPod), I'm not sure how it would apply (or if it would apply). If you put one or more podcasts on a playlist, sync the playlist to the iPod, and play that playlist on the iPod (with Repeat setting OFF - no color), I think it would stop at the end of the playlist.
Thank you. It worked. I wasn't aware of changing settings.
Thank you Mr. Watanabe. It's gratifying to read someone so knowledgeable. I called "support" and while the tech put me on hold, I went on line and there was your simple solution.
Thank you from me, too! The "Reset Settings" function worked for me. Now my Playlists plays through each song once the way it should.
I'm very grateful, way down here in Central Texas!

Kenichi Watanabe, I have solved my problem and learned a bit more about my nano. Thank you for your help.
Thanks Kenichi, resetting the savings fixed the problem for me, it kept reverting back to Repeat All
