How to Setup Google exchange mail on mac?

Just recently our company is migrating our exchange to google (m.google.com)

I am able to setup the mail account on my Iphone & Ipad. But the same settings are not working for Macbook Pro. According to the Google techs... they are not allowing us to use any other email client?

Is it possible to: 1) Download a email client that I can mirror the iphone settings to my mac mail and get all the emails

or Any other ways to configure this to my macbook?

Thank you

MacBook Pro, iOS 6.1.3

You can't use the Google Sync settings that your devices use, but you can set up the Mac with IMAP Google mail, as well as syncing contacts and calendars with the Gmail account. 10.8 makes this very easy - it will automatically ask you if you want to sync contacts and calendars; with previous versions of OS X, you can still do it but you have to add the accounts separately in Address Book and iCal.

Hello Matt,

The IMAP Enable setting is not available when I logon to the Google Mail. It only shows me POP3? So when I try setting the email as IMAP its not recognizing on the mac mail.

Our IT tells me the outlook, mac mail & other Email Clients will not be permitted....

Thank you

Additionally they are saying you can use Iphone & Ipad but not the Mac? Mac mail client is so much better ... it will make my life easier at work. Not that I dont like Google Mails but its just not fast enough.
