Can I export email account settings to another macbook?

Hi,

I'm trying to set up an email account for a friend, who is across the globe and not much tech inclined.

My instructions to teach him to set it up have failed, so I thought of setting it up myself in my own Mail app, and then export it to a file that he can import to his Mail. I've done this before with other email programs with sucess, but I'm not getting how I can do this in Mail.

Could anyone help me out?

Thanks,

Jorge

I'm no expert here but there are two things that you could try transferring:

1. the app (mail.app)

2. the folder com.apple.mail which is in ~/Library/Containers.

You would replace mail.app and com.apple.mail in your friend's computers.

~/Library is hidden; you need to hold down the option key and click on the Go menu in the finder, and then scroll down to it.

As far as I can tell that's what's involved, but it's something of a guess on my part. Good luck.
