Flip4Mac

Does anyone know how to open & play a WMV file in the MacBook Pro? Flip4Mac is not supported at this time, though they are working on a version that will work. Thanks.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I am new to MAC and am confused on how to do this "flipmac" thing. I do not understand the following statement from the directions:

Select "Get Info." Beneath the color labels you'll notice a checkbox that reads "Open Using Rosetta." Check it.

Those options do not come up for me.

Also, I am not exactly sure what this means, "mount the disk image and navigation to /Appications/Utilities. " Does it mean drop and drag it into the file folder for Installers?

Thx for any assistance...

What they mean is;

Get the flip4mac package. Double click the dmg and it will "mount" on the desktop.

When you mount a drive on the desktop - it shows you what is inside the .dmg (disc image). You will see flip4mac. Right click or ctrl click on flip4mac and select - get info.

In the information window tick the box that says open using rosetta.

Then.....

Go to the folder on your hard drive call utilities - it is in the applications folder.

Find the application which is called "Installer"

Do exactly the same thing you did with flip 4 mac to the installer - get info/open with Rosetta.

Go back to flp4mac and install it.

Test flip4mac with a wmv

Once done, go back to installer and undo what you did to it (tellng it to open using rosetta)

That's it.

I personally use the good old Windows Media Player and it works well enough for me. Granted that Microsoft is officially dropping future support for it, you can still download it on their website. Be sure that you have the Stuffit expander before downloading this program though. It is free and you can use this link to get it:

Good luck!
