The poster is running on an intel machine from reading the crash log, so running TenFourFox maybe be slow.
It's not a Windows world. Everyone has to decide their level of risk. I guess mine is higher than some. Turn off Jave applets, don't use flash and you will be fairly safe on a Mac.
That's good news. Usually, you move them to the desktop. Must apps will recreate the preference files from scratch.
You can export your bookmarks.
