iTunes instructions says to send a gift, go to the bottom of the main page and tap the "send a gift" button. Can't find it on any page.
That would be on a iOS device. Is that what you're using? If so, what device and what version of iOS is it running?
I was on a MAC computer - can't gift an app from a computer; must be an iOS device
You're looking only at the information for iOS devices and that doesn't apply to iTunes on a computer. Read the section titled "Mac or PC" in the article from which you came. Then if you still have difficulties, post back with details as to the problem you're encountering.

I found this thread after all day searching for an answer. The problem I still can't find an answer for is "How to gift an app". All I find is how to send a monetary gift, not an option to gift a specific app like it used to be befor iTunes 11.
Where is the "send a gift" button at the bottom of the main page???
