How can I disable the home button when my iphone screen is locked?

When I've exited out of my home screen and my iphone is password locked, I have the problem of pressing the home button while my phone is in my pocket, thus bringing up voice dial when I don't need it. How can I completely disable the home button when my iphone is locked so that I don't have to constantly cancel an erroneous voice dial action?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3

If you have a psscode on your phone and Siri is enabled (which should disable Voice Control) you can set Siri not to work when the phone is locked (Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Allow Access When Locked>Siri>Off).

There are two things that can happen when hitting the home button while the iPhone is locked, the first I don't mind, the second is the very problem I'm trying to correct.

  1. When double tapping the home button, a play button appears on screen and the iphone will play through your music collection. I don't mind this feature mainly because for some reason it never seems to happen unwillingly while my phone is in my pocket.
  2. When holding down the home button for more than a second, my iphone will go into "voice control", which is the problem I'm trying to correct since this happens most often while my phone is in my pocket, say while I'm in an important meeting and all of a sudden my phone starts squawking about some kind of command I didn't wish for it to complete.

Originally, holding down the home button for a second while the iphone is locked would launch the Siri voice command. I disabled Siri thinking that would solve my "pocket dial" problem, but now the phone simply enters into the "voice control" command when the home button is inadvertantly held down for a second. I have disabled the voice control option through my settings, but stupidly enough, the phone still enters into this screen when the home button is held down only to inform me that voice control has been disabled! I am trying to completely disable the home button so that it does NOTHING when the phone is locked and only becomes active again once the password is enetered and the screen is unlocked.

Just hitting the home button when the iPhone is locked turns the iPhone's screen on with the slide to unlock prompt.

Not sure what setting I have different on my iPhone, but when the passcode lock is enabled with my iPhone, pressing and holding the home button does nothing. When the passcode lock is enabled, I can double tap the home button to bring up the music play option but that is it.

How are you pressing and holding the home button for a second or two or double-tapping the home button when the iPhone is in your pocket?

Not sure how either one can be by accident.

There is no option to disable the home button.

I too have this issue and tried Megan's suggestion but the menu on my iPhone 4S iOS 7 - does not have this option( i.e. Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Allow Access When Locked>Siri>Off) on the menu

Is there another way of disabling the very irritating tendency for the Siri to burst into life and ask a question randomly in one's pocket or at other times? ( i.e. even when passcode locked)

I use Siri all the time but not for asking questions - only for dictating text messages at which it is brilliant!
