My New MacBook Pro reboots without warning and I cannot do software updates either

I have a new MBPro 17" and i when i try to do Apple Software updates it crashes and reboots.

in addition it logs me out and I get the LogIn screen whenever i leave the system idle for a period of time.

I bought this MBPro just three months ago and it is very frustrating.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris

My MBP 17" is a Demostation copy so I got a good price. it was in the store for like 8 monhs.

I have ML 10.8.2.

This is my second MBP that i have had this problem of rebooting on its own and not allowing me to instal Software Updates. I bought the MBP in different countries over two years apart.

Here is the most recent Kernel Panic Log. I woke up to find my MBP had rebooted on its own.

Thank you for all your help.

kind regards

Chris

Kernel Panics are caused by hardware faults and incompatible kernel extensions. The most frequent hardware problem is RAM. Macs drive RAM to their spec'd limits. If you install cheap RAM, it will likely not work.

Uninstall whatever software you installed that put this kext on your Mac. You should use the uninstaller that was provided with the software you installed.

com.devguru.driver.SamsungMTP

If after removing that kext you still get kernel panics, it could be cause by external hardware, too, so disconnect any external peripherals including hard drives and see how it works.

Still problems, reinstall the OS and check again.

If still problems, take it in for servicing.

May 30, 2013 6:22 AM in response to Barney-15E

Thanks Barney for your feedback. I really appreciate it.

The RAM is the standard 4GB RAM.

I removed the software that was shown in the Kernel Panic but the problem still remains.

When I do a Software Update it reboots.

This is the SECOND MacBook Pro that i have that gives the same problem.

How can I make a complete Backup of my System?

How can I reinstall the OS?

Thanks once again.

Chris

Hi Linc,

How are you? Here is my most recent Panic report.

The only devguru reference I see is from the unloaded Kext

You haven't uninstalled the driver, or you didn't reboot after uninstalling it.

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.

Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.

Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.

You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.

If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.

Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

My New MacBook Pro reboots without warning and I cannot do software updates either
