Q: WHY Synchronization of Mail is erratic and unable to get mail sometimes

My mail on my Mac desktop, laptop, iPhone and iPad worked seamlessly. For a period of about a month and intermittently, they are not synchronized, and iPhone, shows "cannot connect to server", or the desktop computer says "Mail was unable to ope this mailbox on the server "p02-imap.mail.me.com".

E-mails arrive, and the iPhone shows them, while the desktop computer does not. It happens so that the desktop mail shows all, and the iPhone one is missing the current e-mails.

At home I have to juggle thru the iPhone and the iPad to see which one is showing the most current mail arrivals.

Intermittently also, iPhone iCloud mail's "Sent' "Draft" 'Trash" etc, disappear for no reason. Once in a while when I check again, it reappears.

No changes have been made to this account (i.e. passcode, new iMal setup, etc.) and the only suspicion is whether the server at Apple is acting up.

In the past, when iDisk was around, and we paid for our mail service, at least we could check if "Mail" was working, or if Apple was having problem. You could view temporary problems or maintenance issues on the iDisk site.

Either we do not know where to look, or Apple has taken that away and we cannot see and or judge whether this is a temporary glitch or a simple fact to live by from now on.

Thanks...

You have given no details on your computer specs, OSX you are running, etc. You have confused the issue further by posting this in both the Lion AND Mountain Lion forums so far. More information would be helpful instead of trying to instantly point the finger and lay blame. Several factors could be at play here, but you need to supply some details.

If you don't supply details, answers become guesses. If you do not wish to supply details then no one can be of help. If you truely want to fix your issues then we require knowledge of what kind of Mac and system etc. it is running. Alternatively you can continue to use your Mac with your individual issues.

    Cheers

I just put a big bit of feedback into the apple feedback site about this - and in my instance I'm synchronzing the Mail application with my iCloud email.

Mail is unbelievable slow in getting new mail from my icloud account (regardless of hte bandwidth of my internet connection).  And there are always the "saving" processes showing up and they seem inexplicable.  The only email that is undergoing alteration is the one I'm writing.  Yet these stupid episodes of "saving" and server relations often involve multiple messages - yet no message has been altered or even had its folder location altered.

And before the question arises, I'm using a new MacBook Air with the latest operating system and all the updates.
