Install bootcamp to use Internet Explorer: a hassle?

My employer's IT department says I need to have Internet Explorer to access our corporate Intranet from home. To install Internet Explorer on my MacBook Pro, I assume I'll have to first install Bootcamp and then Windows. Is this a simple task, or will it entail a lot of aggravation or have unintended consequences?
