They are imported when you choose to import them. Pictures that are synced to the phone are done so through iTunes and saved in their own named folder and also listed in the Photo Library. The only way to handle those photos is through iTunes.

Following the instructions will delete the Photo Library from the iPhone (948 photos that exist on both the iPhone and the iMac) and leave the Camera Roll intact (125 photos that exist only on the iPhone). Correct?

Apr 27, 2013 4:09 PM in response to elric999by ChrisJ4203,Correct. The sync process does not do anything as far as the Camera Roll is concerned. Connecting the iPhone to the computer provides you with the opportunity to import the pictures from the Camera Roll to the computer. Photos that are on the computer and have been selected for syncing can only be deleted from the phone by unselecting them in iTunes and then performing a sync.
