HT204545: iTunes: Unable to sync photos

Learn about iTunes: Unable to sync photos

Q: Will following the instructions in the "Unable to sync photos" article delete new photos on iPhone?

Instructions say to unselect photos then sync device, which "will remove all synced photos from your device."  Does this mean that photos on my iPhone that haven't been ported to the iMac will remain on the iPhone? Or will they be deleted too?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3

Two completely different sets of photos. The photos in the Camera Roll are not synced to the computer. They are imported when you choose to import them. Pictures that are synced to the phone are done so through iTunes and saved in their own named folder and also listed in the Photo Library. The only way to handle those photos is through iTunes.

Just to make sure I'm completely clear on this.  Following the instructions will delete the Photo Library from the iPhone (948 photos that exist on both the iPhone and the iMac) and leave the Camera Roll intact (125 photos that exist only on the iPhone).  Correct?

Correct. The sync process does not do anything as far as the Camera Roll is concerned. Connecting the iPhone to the computer provides you with the opportunity to import the pictures from the Camera Roll to the computer. Photos that are on the computer and have been selected for syncing can only be deleted from the phone by unselecting them in iTunes and then performing a sync.
