how to transfer files from MacMini to iPad

Hi:

I recently bought a MacMini but my iPad has always been synched to a Windows machine and I still use it to transfer files to my iPad.

I've created an ebook with iBooks Author on my Mac and now want to transfer it to my iPad. I could use one of my cloud accounts, but the file is fairly big so was wondering how to do it over USB. When I connect my iPad to the Mac, if I try and move any files between the two devices using iTunes, it would go through a sync procedure and wipe my iPad clean.

Short of getting this ebook file on my PC and synching the iPad to it, is there a good USB transfer utility for the Mac that I can use, to just transfer files between the Mac and the iPad?
