i have a condenser mic and a sound craft note pad i connect it to and an IMic usb that connects to it so i can record my voice , i can hear my voice on it fine but i get on garage band and want to record over an instrumental and it does not record someone help me i am so frustrated

I'm going to guess you have a instrumental track alread in garageband. Then you created a new real instrument track for your vocal.
Did you choose the iMic as you input source?
