How do I gift an in game purchase to another iPad user

I'm trying to gift an in game purchase to another iPad user but I can't seem to find a way. I know that you can gift people applications by clicking the button in the top right when you are in the App Store and I'm wondering if there might be a way to purchase in app items through the App Store? Any help would be much appreciated.
