I noticed Find My Mac tells me my iMac is online but that location isn't available. It is connected via a cable to my Time Capsule. Does it need to use WiFi to be tracked?

It needs to be on a network that has a location in the database. I don't know if a wired network would work. I can't remember the database they use. It's not theirs, I don't think. At one time, I added my WiFi SSID to its database so I could use the location features on my WiFi network.

This was just an academic question. As long as the iMac is online somewhere I can still lock or erase it if it ever gets stolen.
