Q: DMS Launch error after migration from snow leopard iMac to new Macbook Pro?

I just purchased a Macbook Pro. I used Migration assistant to transfer my files from my '06 iMac, which was running snow leopard to the Macbook and at start up now get a DMS Launch error every time... any suggestions??

The error message says check with the developer to make sure DMS Launch works on this version of OS X.  You may need to reinstall the application.

I have installed all updates as it suggests, to no avail.  I keep getting the error message and report pop up box each time at start up and the only way to be rid of it, is to click ok to send the report - there is no option to stop the report from coming up.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to stop the error message appearing and resolve the issue?

Thanks

Chelle

I got mine sorted, I had a friend who is an IT and apple whiz have a look at it.  I can't even tell you what he did, but he went into parts of the Mac I didn't know existed and deleted a heap of stuff - no problem anymore. The DMS error was associated with a div x application I'd downloaded years ago on the old Mac. New MacBook working like a charm now, not that the error msg was causing any probs in efficiency of the Mac.  I'll see if I can get him to reply here so you can fix urs too.  Good luck!

Thanks. That validates how I dealt with it today. Deleted two old DivX apps from Applications and then got rid of the associated app support libraries. Strangely enough, the greyhound race videos I originally installed DivX to watch still run fine.

    Tks for advice.
I'd like to try but how to keep DivX abilities? do I have to reinstall... or forget DivX?
I have DivX Plus Player and DivX Converter.
Do I have to erase both on only one or to reset the preferences?

I'd just nuke it. You can always reinstall if something doesn't work afterward. That was my approach & it worked out fine.

DivX 9.0.2 is bugging with the last OS X.
Uninstall it only (!!!) with DivX uninstaller and your problem wil be solved.
If you want to reinstall before DivX solves the problem, for now only reinstall v.9.0.1 or you'll find the same problem.

uninstaller should be in the DivX app folder in the applications folder....run it from there. As mentioned in other posts, once the uninstaller runs and you reboot the error message disappears.

So yeah....the migration issue surfaced for me as well.  DivX uninstaller resolved the issue.  Path  HD/application folder/divx/ unintaller

    Click Command+shift+G

Type in the following, one by one- Then delete the **** out of them.

    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.divx.update.agent.plist

    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.divx.dms.agent.plist

      /Library/LaunchAgents/com.divx.update.agent.plist

      /Library/LaunchAgents/com.divx.dms.agent.plist

      /Library/Application\ Support/DivX/

      HOME/Library/Preferences/com.divx.*

Also search anything "DIVX" while in library. Delete the **** out of that too.
