Apple TV generations

Hi folks,

Could someone please explain what are the differences between the generations of Apple TV?

People are selling gen1 to 3rd on eBay and some other online stores; what does that mean?

Cheers

Apple TV 1 gen is silver and could store films but cannot mirror etc and is a bit limited for new developments coming out.

Apple TV 2 and 3 are pretty much the same except 2 gen is 720 and 3rd Gen 1080 quality.

Sorry I was not clear. Apple TV 2 and 3 do NOT store anything, they have a very small memory to download enough of a film to avoid buffering but both are for straming only. I meant 2 and 3 Gen are the same other than 720 - 1080 quality, but both are quite different to ATV1.

Personnaly I have everything on iTunes and can stream easilly to my 2 Gen and I can rent and buy film dırest, watch you tube etc without a problem and can mirror my Mac (as it is early 2011 MBP (mid 2011 for all other macs) and running OS X 10.8)

ATV 1 is dated technology.
