iPhone as car security camera

Has anyone here ever used an iPhone as a car security camera?

I was considering getting an old iphone 3 or 4 and installing one of the many motion-sensitive security apps, and then taping it to the inside of a side window in the car.

This for when the car is away from home, spending all day in a parking garage.

I was not planning to get service for the iphone, just use a motion-sensitive security app to record footage when there is motion.

Has anyone done this?

So you can see remotely what is going on with your car? How would you connect to the phone with no service?

I'm not sure if you should do that. Won't a phone in plain sight be a temptation for the crooks? After all the guy has sold his kidney to buy one once.

And if it was a safe neighborhood why would you need to install in-car security system, to watch over cats?

Cars are really terrible places to leave phones. In the summer, they often get hot enough inside to damage the screens. In the winter, depending on where you live, they can get cold enough that the battery will not hold a charge for very long.

Logically, the motion detected is caused by somebody who is stealing the car. So you're giving them the iPhone as an additional bonus...
