Apr 28, 2013 11:19 AM in response to glaberby BDAqua,Hi, tough to tell, but...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If it still doesn't work...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).

May 26, 2013 4:24 PM in response to glaberby glaber,I am about a month after the last post. I find that Facebook seems to load pretty easily early in the morning, but not at what I would consider peak user times. Changing DNS numbers has not helped. Reloading the page or resetting the modem helps sometimes, but not always. I think I just have an older Operating system that does not do Facebook well. In a way I'm not unhappy about it so much. Facebook has appeal, but it is easy to get into wasting time there. The main problem is the people who just want to use Facebook email instead on the older email systems.
My new question is about apps. I know they are designed for iPhones, but do they work on my desk top? That is, could I load some phone app on my desktop?
