I cant get my iMac to turn on. I've followed instructions in the book to no avail. Assuming the worst, can I still get my files recovered from the hard drive.

Hello

My iMac refuses to turn on.

I've followed instructions:

checked all the leads

turned it on

held Command + P + R and then option

but nothing seems to work.

I accept that this might be the end...........

But I would still like to recover my files.

Is it possible to do so?

Thanks for reading.

What model iMac? If it's correct that you are running 10.5.6 or some version of 10.5, that might suggest an iMac G5. If it's not one of the iSight models, you can pretty easly get to the drive yourself. Assuming it didn't fail (you'd probably be getting the flashing folder question mark if it did) take it out and put it an external enclosure and connect it to another Mac to retrieve your data.

But why don't you post back with more information, especially what kind of iMac and what OS it was running. Here I'm just guessing.
