Just bought a new iPod - says I need itunes 10.7 - downloaded it, now says I need to update my OS software. I go to update my OS software and it says I'm up to date - any advice?

Your Tag states you are running OS X 10.5.8 = Leopard... If this is the case... read on...
The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.

If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
