screenshot doesn't word anymore

There is a specific sequence to taking a screen shot.

1. Press and hold the Home button

2. Press and release the on/off button

3. The screen should flash if you got the timing right

4. Screen shot saved to camera roll

If you hold them both down at the same time you may end up restarting your phone if you wait long enough.

Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Do both your home and lock buttons work individually?

Try this, exactly...

1. Press and hold the Sleep button.

2. Quickly, press and release the Home button. Your screen should flash and the image will be in your Camera Roll.

3. Release the Sleep button.

Sorry, Apple doesn't respond here. Try restoring with your backup. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup.

FWIW, I've never heard of an iOS device that wouldn't take a screenshot.

Did anyone solve this issue? I have the same with both my iPhone and IPad. Neither will allow a screenshot to take. I have tried the same on a friends and it works fine.

There are so many discussions about how to take a screen shot. Easy. For those devices that work. How can Apple ignore this bug? I have one iPhone that works. I happen to have two (iPhone and IPad) devices that do not work. I have been all through them comparing and testing. I do not wish to reload them. The Internet is loaded with questions about this issue. Even in other languages. Apple......what's the fix??????

The Internet is loaded with everything conceivable. Appearing on the Internet means absolutely zero. No matter what you want to prove or disprove I can prove it or the opposite with a simple Internet search. The standard troubleshooting steps apply to this as to anything else that has been reported on the Internet.

I'm having the same issue. I've already rebooted and reset. To restore I use iTunes? I wonder why this feature is breaking down?

I know this is no help for you, but it isn't breaking down on my phone. It works reliably every time.

If you need to capture the screen frequently, there's a better way - an app for Windows and Mac called Reflector. It essentially displays the screen of your phone on your computer, so you can do screen captures, or even videos.

I receive no benefit from mentioning Reflector; I'm just a happy user of it.
