Without additional information we could only make a wild guess.
What Mac are you using, and what versions of OS X, iMovie and iDVD?
What brand of media?
What error mesages, if any, do you se?
I am using MacBookPro iMovie and iDVD. The point is iDVD burned a movie twice before. It stopped working. There are no error messages. I went twice to an apple store for 2,5 h session each. They said they have no idea why it does not burn anymore.
I tried the encoding High Quality and Best Perfomance,
the aspect ratio is 4:3 because I have an old camera
the video mode is PAL because I need the DVD in a European system but no matter what system, what setting it just does not work.
Unfortunately I am not a computer freak I am learning by doing and in this case I am like the apple emplyees, totally lost.
I appreciate that you try to help me!
Thanks
PLEASE say what versions of iMovie and iDVD you are using AND what brand of media.
I am using the
iMovie version 9.0 (1073)
iDVD Version 7.1.2 (1158)
Fujifilm DVD + R
It burned before on the same DVD brand!
I tried to burn a movie yesterday on the desktop OSX 10.8.3, it also ejected the DVD before it finished the burning. As I see it, it ejects the DVD when the actuall burning process beginns.
Thanks for your help!
Hi
And - Free Space on - Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard disk ? (other do not count at all)
Did You set down - Burn Speed - I do always to x2 or x4 max
Did You first try - Save as a DiskImage - and if so How did it play ?
If You did and it works OK - then use Apple Disk Util tool to burn this .img file to DVD (still at x2 speed)
I only use - Verbatim - DVD-R and slow burn - Nearly never any problem.
Yours Bengt W
I agree with Bengt's suggestions, but just for the record I have always had good results from Fuji DVD-R, as well as Verbatim.
So it is probably not the media that is the problem.
Is there any music from iTunes in the video?
I adjusted the burn speed x2. I saved it as DiskImage but by doing so it automatically turned into the burning mode. So I inserted a DVD and let it burn.
I could not use Apple Disk Util tool to burn .img file. As I mention before I try to navigate my way through.
It did not eject the DVD but it did not burn either, nothing was on the DVD.
Thanks for trying to help me!

That's not what actually happens. It may say 'burning' but it is fact rendering to create the disk image in the proper mpeg2 fpormat.
The burning with the Disc Utility failed because it said of a medium write error!
Try cleaning the Superdrive and performing a SMC reset:

Then reboot your Mac and try again.
It worked!
I reset the SMC and I followed the instructions given by Bengt Wärleby and voila͑ it worked! Thanks a lot! If you lived in the Washington DC area I would invite you for a barbeque or Dinner. Try to work with the Desktop now.
Glad you got it working!
I would gladly come over but I am otherwise engaged tonight! 🙂
