Q: Why doesn't Apple TV see my home share?  Is there more to do than log in on Itunes and appleTV?

Why doesn't Apple TV see my home share?  Is there more to do than log in on Itunes and appleTV?

Connectivity is very sporadic.  I have not taken the time to run a capture with wireshark but being that all are connected to the same Cisco small buz 4400 GB/wireless device they should connect.  the PC hosts the music.  The Win7 laptop sees it with some patience and turning home share off and on a few itmes.  The iphone 4s is most consistent but also I feel luccky when it connects to home share.  The Ipad connected once haven't seen music there since.  It never connected to the apple TV.

Does anyone have any advice at all or does this product not function as described.  Apple support hung up when they could not determine I don't know my password?  I logged in here fine...  Same email.

All products software and devices are current and patched reqularly.

    Wow!

Does anybody read the responses from the computer before they get sent out?!?  How rude a computer answer the question with the steps already taken in the question!

I looked for the traffic with wireshark it is there and verified the ports are open on the machines even though most of them are not used by iTunes.

To date the only way I have been able to make a difference on this is to BUY match.  Thus I paid a 25$ ransom to use my 100$ device.  Still no where as convenient as homeshare would have been.  The share is from the internet not the local machine.  So the music plays on a phone or pad but the interface is clunky even with an N wifi and 40-60MB connection to the net.  Go figure.  I just want to access my music.  Not access my music duplicate behind the apple.

Apple is a wanna be player with artificially high stock price.  One day they may get more stuff right.  For now just a symbol of Greed.
