I have paid for my Iphone 4 to be unlocked, when I check the IMEI number online it says that that IMEI number is 'unblocked'.... Is this just a typo or is it the same thing as being unlocked to any service provider?

I have just realised that it is illegal to unlock your smart phone in the USA and UK, however I live in Australia and can't find information to see whether I have just inadvertantly broken the law?
In Australia, all carrier supports unlocking legally.

Clarification: It is not illegal to unlock smartphones in said countries, as long as the carrier is the one to unlock it. You probably want to remove this hack to be safe. Even if it is legal, it is more trouble than it's worth. Why pay some scam service to do it when you can do it through the carrier as ckuan has pointed you to.
