We turn on the computer and the start up page will appear (gray apple) and then it freezes. We have removed everything expect for the keyboard. Please help. Thank you.

What computer, running what version of OS X?
The problem had changed now. I'll turn the computer on snd it starts to boot, freezes and then prompts me the **** it down. There are no other devices connected. Just the keyboard and a wireless mouse. I'm unable to safe boot.
I have an iMac 24 inch, early 2008. Processor is 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Memory is 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Software is MAC OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63). I had 2 updates which I did. Started using Skype at which point the computer froze. Restarted it and this has been happening since then.
