Apr 29, 2013 11:18 PM in response to gbapple12by gail from maine,Hi gbapple,
You won't get a None option unless you are setting up an iTunes account with a brand new AppleID, or unless you put a credit card in to start with on a new iTunes account using an existing AppleID.
In the second instance, you can put the card in, download a free app, and then remove the credit card (without ever having used it), and the None option will display.
If you are setting up a new iTunes account with a brand new AppleID, you need to follow the instructions in this link exactly to set up the account without a credit card:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
You can also use other forms of payment - like an iTunes card, Paypal, etc. Here are the approved payment methods for iTunes:
Accepted payment types
You need an Apple ID to buy items in the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, App Store and iBookstore. When you create an Apple ID for any of these stores, you will need to provide a payment method for purchases. The available payment methods vary by country, but typically you can use:
- Credit cards
- iTunes Cards
- iTunes Store Gift Certificates
- Content Codes
- Store credit (including Allowance Account balances)
- ClickandBuy
- PayPal
In countries where the iTunes Store only sells apps, the accepted payment methods are Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Other payment types such as gift cards, store credit, monthly allowances, ClickandBuy, and PayPal are not accepted. Depending on your App Store country, prices may be listed in your local currency, US Dollars, or Euros.
Additional Information
You cannot use American Express with the iTunes Store in India. If you have an Apple ID in India and American Express was your designated payment method, you will be prompted to change it when you make a purchase or sign in to your account.

Sep 22, 2013 4:59 PM in response to gbapple12by Starlight2200,It's happening to me too. When I try to get my Visa card off, it won't show the None option. It only shows Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and something else but no none. I'm trying to fix it on the computer too but it won't show the option and the comp is confusing

Sep 29, 2013 8:52 PM in response to Starlight2200by Tibby1994,Mine does that too! I'm not sure how to remove it when I don't have the option to, and mine is also asking me to update my billing info when I'm trying to download a free app! Help?

Oct 12, 2013 8:14 AM in response to Starlight2200by impyy,"None" option only show when I use my "ipad", click on one free app, then add a "new apple ID". If you do it on the "computer", It won't not show "None" option.

Nov 2, 2013 9:37 AM in response to gail from maineby Mtagoylo2,Hi,
I'm having problems with my apple id. Originally it was created with NO CREDiT CARD OPTION.
Now, Its asking me for a Credit Card and the NONE Option is NOT AVAILABLE.
NO CHANGES was made on the account what so ever..
Can you provide any solution? how can this be resolved?
One Other thing.... I DO NOT want a NEW APPLE Id CREATED..
I want to USE OnLY a SPECIFIC AppleId.. And nothing else...
I hope for a solution and not a work around.

Nov 18, 2013 7:23 AM in response to gbapple12by iyabo 123,if your trying to create the appleid with a pc you will not get a none option.... until you try to review with an apple device.. i i think the best solution is to create a new email and try to use your apple device to create the apple id

Nov 28, 2013 10:06 AM in response to gbapple12by Mtagoylo2,I am so disappointed on this issue.... so simple but can't be addressed properly by just simply addng the NONE option or is apple just doesnt want to listen?
how hard s it to add the option "NONE" to disable the credit card option on an existing apple id???
Do we need to be a rocket scientist in order for this option be added?
What do you guys think?

Nov 30, 2013 8:06 AM in response to gbapple12by Mtagoylo2,We know that it's easy to create an apple id....
But the sentiments here was we cant set the credit card option to none.. which is a simple thing to do when you edit your details. But problem is that you cant.... the question there was do you prefer to create a new appleid than just modify the details you needed and get it done fast? Do you the point?
I just answered a CSAT survey that apple just sent and this is my answer..ll My complaints are as follows; 1. I created my apple id years ago and it was originally set to "NONE" on the credit card option and there was no problem..... Now, I am being asked to put in a credit card number??? Duh... I don't transact online and I don't leave credit card details online. 2. I created multiple apple id for each apple device I am using and now they too are asking to put in a credit card... is this a kind of fraud ploy???? 3. Why do you suggest that I create a new apple id, if your support guys wasn't able to fix a simple issue by just allowing appleid users to modify and select the "NONE" credit card option.... I can modify other options on my apple id when I login but I can't modify my credit card details... WHY???? 4. Is it hard to add the "NONE" option on the apple id private details? Are your webmasters incompetent to address a simple issue? This has been an ongoing issue that apple cant address
