ipad mini screen not working??

so i picked up my ipad mini today and tried to turn it on but nothing happened. i thought maybe the battery was dead so i plugged it in but it still wouldnt turn on. i hooked it up to my macbook and it made the noise acknoweldging that it was plugged in but nothing appeared on the screen. my macbook said it has 100% battery life. i tried to reset it by holding the top and home button but nothing happened, no apple symbol appeared. i held down the home button and i can hear siri's voice and she can still find stuff for me but i still have a blank screen? it seems the ipad is functioning properly just not the screen? please help! my ipad is brand new, only 3 months old, and i take good care of it!

Holding the top and home buttons together is called resetting. Since that didn't work, the next step would be to try a restore. You do that by plugging it in to iTunes, but you already said you don't get a visual response doing that either.


So I recommend trying recovery which is described here:

iOS: Unable to update or restore


You may have to try recovery mode a few times before it finally works.

I tried connecting to itunes and restoring. Itunes said it restored it but I still have a blank screen. I'm having trouble trying the recovery mode because my screen is blank. I cant tell if my device is off or on - nothing appears on my screen. So when following the steps to "slide to power off" or look for the "connect to itunes" prompt etc. my screen is just blank so I dont even know how to go about putting it into recovery mode 😟 I'm so frustrated this ipad is brand new! Im thinking that the screen must be faulty or something because I can still talk to siri and when I hook it up to itunes I can still transfer stuff onto it and it seems to be functioning that way. I think the "brain" of the ipad is working just not the screen. I think I may just have to take it back to Best Buy and see if they can do anything for me 😟 So disappointed in you Apple! This is the first time I have ever had a problem with one of their products.

Are you near an Apple Retail Store? I suggest trying that, and setting up a Genius Bar appointement instead of going to Best Buy. Your iPad is still under warranty. Here's how to find a store:

Click the "make a reservation" link at the top right, then choose "Genius Bar". You might take your sales receipt with you if you have it, though it shouldn't really matter because the iPad Mini has not been out for a year yet.
