How to empty Trashboxes MacMail

To my surprize, there are 2 trashboxes in Mail. They cannot be deleted.
Why is it necessar with 2 trashboxes. I wanted to empty the trash but I have to delete each mail one by one

Erase Deleted Items command is doing nothing.

Hi B,

Open the trashbox you want to empty.

Edit > Select All

Mailbox > Erase Deleted Items.

Erase Deleted Items is like Empty Trash on a Mac.

Trash called On My Mac takes up disc space.

Trash called Gmail (on my mail system) takes up the allowed storage space on the email server. There comes a point where you have no more allocated space and you can't send or receive emails.

Have a look at Mail Preferences, especially Accounts > Mailbox behaviours.
