Q: I changed my password

So my gmail account was safeguarded against a hijacker.  I reset my password but now Mail doesn't accept the new change and I can't access my emails through Mail.  I tried to remove and then add it back "manually" to no avail.  Any suggestions?

I'm operating on Snow Leopard.
