Mac Randomly reboots

Mac Rendomly reboots and I get a message saying there wasa problem or what not after reboot and to press a key to continue.

I have applied the instructions on this site (http://www.midnightryder.com/how-to-fix-a-randomly-rebooting-mac-os-x-10-8-mount ain-lion/) and also have rebooted (Cmd + R) and did a repair of the disk and disk permissions. However if none of these resolve the issue perhaps I should re-install Mountain Lion. I am not sure if this is a hardware or software problem. I guess I could also try booting into the Apple hardware test CD, but many hardware issues are not detected by that CD. Anyone else have this problem and what solved it?

iPhone 4S, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You reporting it shouldn't prevent the log from being written.

Take a look at some of the troubleshooting steps in the article I linked.

KPs are caused by hardware faults and incompatible/corrupt kernel extensions. Hardware can include connected devices like printers and hard drives.

Try running in Safe Mode, if you don't get any KPs, then it is likely third-party software (kernel extension).

Eliminating the non-Apple stuff is usually a good place to start troubleshooting KPs.

Uninstall these items, at least temporarily, according to the developers instructions (hopefully uninstallers are available). If the panics stop, and if you actually need them, re-install one-at-a-time and test, ensuring that you have the latest Mountain Lion compatible versions.

May 9, 2013 1:17 PM in response to John Wolf

The best way to remove them is to use an uninstaller that is hopefully available from the developer.

I found this about Seagate:

http://forums.seagate.com/t5/GoFlex-GoFlex-Desk-GoFlex-Pro/Seagate-s-PC-MAC-USB- 3-0-Goflex-drivers-not-Mac-compatible/td-p/151269

For com.rim.... hopefully Blackberry have an uninstaller available - check their website.

For com.bresink.... have a look here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1553654

Doing a few searches, it seems all three items are often implicated in kernel panics.

Not the recommeded way, but if you can't find uninstallers, as a last resort, you could use EasyFind to locate and remove the offending items:
