Apr 30, 2013 7:04 AM in response to AL20by Matt Clifton,★HelpfulYes, try a data recovery software such as Data Rescue. You can download a demo to see whether it will recover the file before you buy.
It won't work if you have "Empty trash securely" turned on in Finder's preferences, though - that overwrites deleted files with zeroes.

Have 2-3 sets of your files: active working files, backup #1 and backup #2
