How do I pair apple tv remote?

I'm starting this discussion with a question--but I have an answer. I was following the instructions for the remote and discovered that the pairing and unpairing instructions were switched around. To pair remote with apple tv the instructions say to hold down "Right and Menu" for six seconds. To unpair, the instructions say to hold down "Left and Menu" for six seconds. But I discovered that at least with my remote that holding down the Left and Menu for six seconds paired my remote to the apple tv. Maybe a fluke or maybe the instructions have been printed incorrectly.

Menu and left arrow normally unpairs - maybe it toggles it if unpaired! Try again.

Thanks...that's what the instructions do say. I tried Menu and Right twice--and I noticed the light on the apple tv respond to the remote--but the on screen menu would not respond. Then, I held Menu and Left and this caused the on screen menu to finally respond to the remote commands. So, it works now. I just wondered if the instructions had been flip flopped for some reason. Or, perhaps I stumbled into getting it to work--without knowing why. Thanks for the follow up!

I used this and it worked...the right with menu didn't work for me...but left with menu worked right away.

my remote won't work. Any time I try to press the arrows, or anything on the remote the box would blink three times and my cursor wouldn't move. I tried unplugging it and restarting it manually, but that didn't work either. The manual says to hold down the right arrow and the menu button for 6 seconds to pair the remote, but I found this unpairs the remote. Finally I held the left arrow and menu button down for 6 seconds , and my remote paired again! You will see a symbol of a remote in the upper left corner of the tv screen blinking, meaning it worked! Good luck!
