iPhone backup (email)
I have four email accounts on my iPhone. When I backup to my iMac, it only shows 2 of the 4 email accounts. How do I back up my iPhone with all 4 email accounts?
iMac Intel 24", Mac OS X (10.6.6), iPad, MacBook Air, iPhone 4

That is my problem as well. My iPhone 6s Plus has emails from a Yahoo account that was compromised and I cannot get back into. I want to save those emails. The password for the account no longer works and cannot be reset... Long story involving Verizon takeover of Yahoo and sale of FIOS to Frontier.
That's not true. I have email on my phone that needs to be transfered to a new phone or restored to my old phone after I do a software restore. The problem I am having is I no longer have access to the email server the email was originally on. It is only saved to my phone. How to I back up the email on my phone when I don't have access to the email server anymore?...
all the account settings should be in the backup. No actual messages are included in the backup, only the settings. The fact that you backed up the phone on the iMac, doesn't mean the account settings for all 4 accounts will appear on the Mac, that has to be set up seperately. Your iPhone backup is just for the phone, not the iMac.

Hope this helps 🙂

OK let's ask another way: how do I ensure all my email accounts form my iPhone are backed up onto my iMac so that if my iPhone crashes or is wiped, I can restore it in it's entirity (because at the moment my back up is only showing 2 out of the 4 email accounts on my iPhone).
So if I'm reading correctly: you backed up the iPhone, erased it and then restored that very same backup, containing only 2 of the accounts' settings ?
No I have just bought an iPhone 5 and was restoring from the latest backup of the iPhone 4. This is where I noticed only 2 out of the 4 email accounts are shown on the full back-up. Any suggestions?
Do you still have the iPhone 4 with the correct settings? You could try creating an iCloud backup and restore the iPhone 5 from that backup. It's strange that only 2 mail accounts appear on the phone, they should have been backed up. What kind of accounts are missing ?
Gmail and a POP account are missing from the back up. I also notice some contact are missing too, which suggests my iMac hasn't got a 'full' back up. So you suggest I start again with a back-up of the iPhone 4 to the Cloud?
So when I do a full back up, in the 'Synch Email' box it is just showing 2 email accounts and not the 4 I have on my iPhone. I don't understand why this is...?
So I have just done a full back up from my iPhone 4 to iTunes on my iMac. I then went to 'restore' that back up to my iPhone 5 and it says "Could not restore from the back up because the back-up was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone being restored'
Help!
you should update the iPhone 5 first. You can do that by connecting it to iTunes and update from there. After that, try restoring the backup again 🙂
I think you have a misunderstanding of the way the sync process works for email. All that happens with iTunes and the phone is it gives you the opportunity to sync the email settings (Settings only) from the computer to the phone to assist in setting up the accounts. If you created the accounts on the phone, no matter what the settings are in iTunes, you will not sync email settings, or mail, from the device to the computer. The backup you create will contain the settings from the phone, but when the phone is connected to iTunes and you look in the Info tab, you are only going to see the accounts that are on the phone, not what is contained in the backup.
As long as you know the login info for all of your email accounts, that is all you will need. The actual mail is saved to those respective servers and not your iphone. So even if the account is delted from your phone, you will not lose your messages. You will simply have to add them again in the Mail,Contact,Calendars portion of Settings app.
As far as the backup being corrupt goes... If it is in fact a corrupt file, you will need to complete a new backup of your old iPhone before you can restore the new one. Do not simply click on the sync button, rather, click the backup button instead. (iTunes version 11)
Before you restore, you need to make sure both phones are on the same version of iOS as well.
