I'm looking for an app that will automatically adjust my iPhone ringer volume depending on either a set schedule or by location. For example, I'd like it quiet when I'm at work and louder outside of those hours. I used ot have an app for this on my Balckberry a few years ago and am looking for something similar for the iPhone. Any suggestions?

Because I work in a closely packed, open plan office and I'd rather this happen automatically rather than having to remember to do it every day and then remember to turn it back up when I leave work. Something as basic as this should be able to be done automatically either following a set schedule or by using location awareness, it's an iPhone, not a 1990's flip phone after all.

I did submit the feedback. Frankly I was just answering the other poster's rather annoying post.
Why would you need an app, when you can use the side control to adjust the volume or put the phone on vibrate or ringer?
Ok, so when you search the app store did you find such an app?
I don't think that there is an app that can do what you want to do.
Using the side control to put the phone on vibrate while at work and then flip it back to ringer when your not a work, shouldn't be to hard to remember. I do this everyday. A pretty basic function.
No I didn't find an app by searching the store - that's whay I posted here.
And I know I can attmept to remember this every day but since it's a "basic function" there should be a way to automate it.
This kind of app exists for Blackberry and Android so clearly there is an interest in this functionality.

Nor will you. Third party apps don't have access to those sort of basic phone functions. Apple would have to add this feature. Follow ChrisJ4203's suggestion and submit feedback.
And I was just trying to save you time looking further for something that doesn't exist.
It is a basic function that has been incorporated on the Android side of life with SmartActions. It is about convience and not having to always remember to change your different settings like volume every single day.
Yes, it is easy to say oh just change it manually, but when you have a competitor doing it and doing it successfully it is a shame that Apple has not implemented this.
I want to be able to change settings based on time and location. Heck, just setting up my phone to be silent after 11 PM except for calls from a select few people and my alarm would make me a happy camper.

That would be called Do Not Disturb.
I use an app called Silent4 (http://www.audeonic.com/silent.shtml). It just warns you when you move awa from an area after having turn you phone slient. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated for a long time and doesn't work reliably.
What you are talking is impossible as far as I know. I might sound lame but you could time your do not disturb mode from settings, this will be automatic but then your phone will only vibrate it won't ring
Did you check the apps - SilentAlert, AutoSilent etc? I guess they do what you described.
SilentAlert seems to be just a software way to swicth mute on and off manually and is no differnet than the actual switch in that you still need to remember to use it.
AutoSilent however looks to be exactly what I was looking for. My work situation has changed and my need for this is less than it used to be (I changed jobs and now have my own office rather than being in an open plan situation) however there are other reasons why this coudl be very useful. Thanks for the tip!
