This article is really helpful for deleting multiple photos at a time. I know it says Photo Stream, but it works the same within your Camera Roll:
iCloud: How to delete photos from Photo Stream
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5125
On an iOS device using iOS 6 or later:
- Open the Photos app.
- Tap the Photo Stream tab.
- Tap My Photo Stream.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap one or more photos. Checkmarks denote photos you have selected.
- Tap Delete, and then tap Delete Selected Photos.
As for the 6gb of storage used up by your iPad, it could be a number of things. The following (from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2419) is a good explanation of what might be your situation:
The storage media in your Apple product, like all storage devices, uses some of its capacity for formatting, so actual capacity available for applications and files will be less. In addition, other factors, such as pre-installed systems or other software and media, will also use part of the available storage capacity.
That said, if you want to try and troubleshoot, using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition. So if you want to take that troubleshooting route, you will want to follow these directions:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Before restoring:
- Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
- Back up your device.
- Transfer and sync content to your computer.
Cheers,
David
