HFS+(Journaled ) to HFS+(Non-Journaled)

I have a 1 TB external hard drive that I partitioned to HFS+(Journaled), however, I want to partition it to HFS+ (Non-Journaled). Is that possible and if so how can I do that?.......I currently run Mac OS X 10.8.3 on my macbook pro.....Any Thoughts?

In my testing of journaling, the difference in speed between journalled and unjournalled was so small I was not able to detect it reliably.

IMHO turning off journalling will not have a noticable impact on the copy time.

What is much more important is how the external drive is connected the MBP. The speed of the bus has far more impact then journalling.

How is the external drive currently connected to your MBP?

IMHO the best way to translate USB 2 is ultra slow bus 2

Just about any other interconnect except for USB 1 is faster. Here I am talking noticably faster as to opposed to not journalling which will be not even noticable at best. My suggestion if you wish to improve the movement of data to the external disk check into using something else besides USB 2 to conect the external disk to your MBP as the best way to see an improvement time to move data.
