All of a sudden I can't search text messages by name. I can't even find some contact's messages by spotlight search. They are still there (I can find them if I try to send them another message) but I work through text I'm used to the search mode at the top of the app.
iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.3
Go into Settings>General>Spotlight Search and see if Messages is checked.
It's Checked and still not working. Strange thing is that some names work and some don't (both in the message app search bar and spotlight app). Then I try a specific word in the message string and again it will bring up some but not others...
I have this problem too. I reset all settings and it was able to index the text messages again. Worked for a couple of weeks. Apple said to do a wipe and reinstall to see if that fixes it- but that is a ton of work to do without guaranteed fix- redoing all the music takes hours! So I will prob try the reset all settings again.
I'm having the same problem as sdhammer. I have messages dating back to 2010 that I routinely used to search for not just names, but words that were used in text messages such as "meeting," and any message with that word would come up. I hope they can fix this issue...it seems minor, but I would love to see that expanded search ability come back.
