when i have my screen set to landscape everything turns sideways even when i have my phone straight up (portrait) how do i fix this ?

when i go into my messages and photos and camera etc everythin turns landscape even though my iphone is in a portrait position can someone help me ??

i can lock and unlock the modes but when i have landscape set and holding the phone striaght shouldnt it still be displayed in portrait and only change to land scape if i turn the phone onto its side ?
