Teenager locked out his iPod

My son put a password on his ipod and can't remember it. If I reset it to factory setting will he loss all of his games that he purchases\d from the app store? He has never backed it up onto the computer.

Yes, all data will be lost, but the apps are purchased using an Apple ID, so if he signs in with the same ID after restoring, he can redownload apps. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 for forgotten passcode information.
