iPhone 4 stuck on Apple logo screen

Ok so I could not be more frustrated right now with my phone. I was on Facebook earlier and all of a sudden my phone froze up. Not thinking anything of it, I reset it and came to notice that it's just stuck on the Apple logo screen. I've reset it a couple times in a panic and still nothing. So I YouTube'd what to do and I found one video that said to just hold in the power and home button until a screen pops up that has the whole Connect to iTunes thing on it. So I did that and hit the button to do the iPhone recovery which then updated my software. After doing that my phone STILL didn't turn on and still has that dull apple logo screen. Trying to keep calm, I did the same thing again so that the connect to iTunes screen popped up because it's the only way my iTunes is recognizing that my phone is plugged in. In a desperate attempt to get this thing working again, I hit the restore button yet again. It said it can't be restored due to an unknown problem. I'm very frustrated and confused as to what the heck is going on and why nothing is working. My phone is NOT jailbroken or anything, I don't have any crazy apps to change anything on my phone or anything of the sort. I just want it to work. I'm about two days away from trading it in for almost $140 towards a new phone and of course this happens. Someone PLEASE help me before I go even crazier and start ripping my hair out 😠😢😕

It sounds like you are doing everything correctly. Completely turn off the iPhone just by holding the power button, and restart iTunes on your computer and try the process again. I assume you're putting it in recovery mode. iTunes at that point should say "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode." If you're getting that message you're doing it right, but I would try to power cycle the device and iTunes and try again.

Unforunately iTunes didn't detect that. Once it said that there was an unknown error I figured I'd try redoing the process once more. When I hit iPhone restore I got a little bit further than before.

This is the screen I'm on now and have been for about 10 minutes now with no change. iTunes just says it's "Waiting for iPhone....." up in the little box where it usually says what song is playing and in the bigger portion of the screen where it usually lists your music, it says iPhone Recovery Mode iTunes is restoring the software on this iPhone. Is it just a waiting game now? Thanks for the reply!

It can take a while, depending on how long it's been and the amount of content it has to remove. That bar should start filling up with progress soon if it's already been 10 minutes. If it doesn't start after a while, try unplugging it, powering off the iPhone, and attempt to do it again. If it fails for a 3rd time I would contact Apple about replacing it under the 1yr hardware warranty.

Try this first:

In most cases, you can solve these problems by putting the phone into recovery mode and restoring it from backup. To do that, follow these instructions:

1. Connect the iPhone's USB cable to your computer, but not your iPhone.

2. Turn your iPhone off. If the phone won't turn off in the traditional manner, just keep holding the buttons until the screen goes dark.

3. Once you've turned the device off, press the home button on the face of the device and plug in the USB cable to the device's dock connector.

4. When it turns on, keep pressing the home button until the iTunes logo appears on the screen.

5. You'll know the phone is now in recovery mode because a window in iTunes will tell you.

6. You can then start the restore process by clicking the "Restore" button in the iTunes window.

Definitely go to fix iPhone stuck at Apple logo.

I am sorry that this happened, if you get unknown error should be a number with that error message as well. Did you get one? Reason as each different 'Unknown error 00' with a number, is basically for the specific issue for not being able to restore the iPhone. And there are a number of causes. Try contacting AppleCare by phone, or if you possibly have an Apple Retail Store near you set up an appointment and have a look at it.

Good luck
