Q: Incorrect 'date created' on files
Greetings,
I have discovered on several Xsan deployments that my company has completed that the Date Created attribute flags every file as having been created at the time that it was copied to the Xsan storage.
If that file is then copied back off to local storage, the Date Created attribute of the file reverts to the proper date. Only when a file is stored on the Xsan storage is the date incorrect. This is demonstrated in both Finder, Terminal (ls -clU), as well as mounting the file system through AFP or SMB. The date modified attribute stays correct throughout, however, which can result in modified date being earlier than created date.
We are running Xsan 3 on 10.8 systems. I have tested this with both Native Extended Attributes enabled and disabled. When disabled, the issue appears to not occur immediately, but will eventually the date created attribute will change, typically with a reboot or re-mount of the SAN volume.
Any ideas? Anyone got a good avenue for support with a competent support pool with Apple otherwise?
Thanks
Mac OS X (10.7), Server
