I used the above directions to unlock my ipad after being locked out.When I get to step 5,I get this message"I tunes can not connect to the ipad because it is locked with a passcode.You must enter your passcode on the ipad before it can be used w/itunes" but my ipad states I must connect with itunes. Please help

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it
I tried this but it won't let me. Any other suggestions? When I click restore ipad, it takes me thru a 2 hour update download, then i get an error message. This has happened 3 x's. i'm now trying again for the 4th time. Thanks for any additional help.
