Problem restoring new iPhone to old iPhone's backup

I have the iPhone 4S. My old iPhone had a broken headphone jack, so my carrier (Verizon) got me a new one. I've backed up my old iPhone to my itunes, but when I went to restore the new iPhone to the old one's backup, only my apps and contacts made it over. I've retried this several times, but I keep getting the same result.
I'm trying to backup to the cloud right now, so we'll see if that helps.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

It sounds like you're syncing the new phone to itunes instead of restoring from backup.

Apps/contacts/notes are things you sync to itunes. Apps aren't part of the backup only the app data.

If you did a backup of your phone and restored from it you should get everything back pics/text.

Just to double check that you backup and restored correctly take a look at the link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

Hi,

I don't know if this is the right forum or not. But here is my problem iOS 6.1.3. I have a legally unlocked iphone 4, not jailbroken. I have a backup of my phone on an external bootable drive that has iTunes 10 and that has iOS 5.1.1. back up of my phone. So wiped the phone as new and then hit shift restore and it went to the back up I wanted. When it was done iTunes had loaded 6.1.3 What the heck? How do I stop that. My phone has just gotten screwy with all the updates since July. I want to restore from my back up. Help
