Problems installing Motion 5 after complete system rebuild

Hi everyone,

this is driving me nuts. I had an old copy of Final Cut Express HD which I can 't install any more (MacPro, Mountain Lion 10.8.3, 32gb RAM) so I have complete refomatted my drive, re-installed a fresh copy of Mountain Lion and installed the Adobe Creative Suite (work necessity) and when I launch Motion 5, i just get a blank project window and nothing works.

This has to be the most frustrating experience I have ever had with Apple software and I don't even know what might be conflicting with it as I don't have any of the final cut studio software installed which, from what i have read, appears to be the issue.

Should I install Final Cut X trial? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

See if this flexes it...

Close Motion...

Go to...

Finder Menu...

Go (+ hold down the option key)

Library (should be under the Home icon)

Application Support...

Motion...

Layouts...

Trash what ever is inside the Layout folder.

Restart Motion and see if that fixed it!

No, unfortunately, but thanks for your response.

I'll keep digging around, but you know, i have work to do and this is certainly taking up an unacceptable amount of billable time.

For future reference, always install your Apple apps first before installing third party apps. If something goes wrong you have a better chance in finding what third party app is messing things up.

I would try the basics. In order: delete Motion preferences, try a new user. If thiese don't help then reinstall Motion. How did you install Motion after you reformated your drive? Time machine, other backup, new install? How you did it might be a clue to the problem.

Hi, good idea, i will try with a new user and slowly install the other apps, i installed as a new install but will perservere with the new user and see what happens. Thanks for the response.
