Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

As you said, the repair extension program finished on December 7th, 2012. Now, you can't do anything apart from paying the repair, and it's not a cheap repair, because the whole logic board has to be replaced

It is unvelibable this is happening,

Apple must be repsonsive for any defective product at any time, no matter the age of the macbook pro

True is many macbook pro of this serie are already in the recycle but what those that still working until this problem rises. I am write a complain in the social environment, I am very dissapointed with MAC this time.

Sorry for not being able to do anything more for you, but I have told you the truth. If you want to repair it, do it, and if not, get another computer. Also, was your computer failing before the expiration date of the repair extension program?

You can consider yourself lucky, because logic boards are normally more expensive. As I told you, do whatever you want. Also, if you want to contact to Apple to complain, you can do it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

You may get lucky and manage to get an exception from Apple to have it repaired for free.

I escelated my problem speaking to a senior customer adviser who authorised the repair by an Apple approved reseller.

    Good luck
