Update 6.1.4 seems to be draining my battery & using data.

Hi there,

I updated my i5 to 6.1.4 this afternoon & since then I've had a text from O2 saying that I've used my monthly data allowance of 1.5Gb.

Also, my battery is draining before my eyes. It's going down about 1% a minute!

Has anyone else had problems?

Ok, so I tried to restore with iTunes and still the same problem. Than I Reset and erased everything by using settings in iPhone, and started to configure it as a new iPhone. Than I connected it to iTunes again and restored from backup, and it seems to be working normally again.

Will monitor it for a while, and get back to you.

There is no permanent fix here. We all have to help oursleves. Here is what I did:

1. Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>iCloud

2. Turn off everything from mail to find my iPhone, but do not delete anything. Leave everything in your phone or iPad.

3. Follow the same proceedure for every mail account you have.

4. Go to Fetch New Data, turn off Push, and check Manual. Go to Advanced at the bottom, and swtich everything to Manual.

5. Go to Privacy>Location and turn it off.

6. Set Brightness to Auto

7. Kill all open apps. Reset the phone by holding both Power and Home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears.

8. Go back to Settings and turn your settings back on except for Push.

You will still experience some drain as the phone will try to sync everything back. If it still persists, then run the battery down until the phone turns off and charge it for four hours at least.

For me, I have Wifi on, bluetooth and mobile data off. I only turn on mobile data when I need it.

There are other fixes like Resetting all Settings, but this is the simplest and it usually works. You may have to do it a couple of times though. Just try it.

Ok so here is what I did.

I restored to factory my iPhone 5 on Saturday. And again on Sunday just to make sure.

I installed my apps and setup iCloud.

Now it drains battery quickly. This iphone is only 6 months old.

So resetting does nothing to help, at least for me. I mean I setup the iPhone5 as a new iPhone. So everything was gone.

Anyone know WHY this is happening?

Should I take it to the Genious bar and swap it for a new one? Would they even do that?
